Question Period.

Today on Question Period [(my political porn) and a show Brad just said of: "why does this show exist [...] this is not a necessary evil"] there were two main highlights for me. First, Jane Taber using air quotes when she said United Nations (this made Erin and I giggle). Erin wants to know what Jane Tabor knows that we don't. Second was Tony Clement, Minister of Health, in an "interview" with Jane Taber about wait times. Clement, frustrated (presumably by being questioned and, more legitimately, by Jane Taber), finally just said "I'm not the fountain of knowledge on wait times..."

Last week the best part was when Peter Van Loan, in response to a question about the then forthcoming Cons attack ads on Dion and whether Peter had seen them in caucus, said: "what happens in caucus [awkward pause, then something like] is a matter that stays there..." or something lame. Erin and I are convinced that he was just about to say "what happens in caucus stays in caucus" but then got awkward when he realized he was on TV.

Another thing about the show that I throughly enjoy is Erin's extreme displeasure (if it were me I'd qualify it as 'rage') at the portion of the show where Craig Oliver "turns his head slightly to the left" (or sometimes she says "slides his chair over so slightly") to denote his shift from 'host' to 'media expert'.

In a related story, could Jane Taber and Craig Oliver be anymore annoying?

I quote Paul, who in a fit of Frustration duing my weekly indulgence of Question Period, asked the following question concerning Mr. Oliver; "Who is this Wanker???" (I thought you might enjoy that tidbit of Brit Rage)
