Satellipopettes....

Trois morceaux de robot pour vous!

hahaha

So, my prof said this to me yesterday when I, without knowing it, properly used subjunctiof when talking. I was like um, what? Robot? Him: oh, shit, yeah you guys don't know about that because I dunno... Mr. Dressup, informed your youth? But, for me, our version of that for my generation in Quebec is a show called Satellipopettes ...

So, between him explaining it to me and a bit of google research ... I've pieced this together about the show: it's a gameshow where the objective is to build a robot and you get pieces of robot when you answer a question properly .... and apparently can get up to 3 (? maybe more, but it seemed to me 3 tops at a time). Anywho, the 'animateur' of the program was called: Capitaine Cosmo... hehe. All in all, compared to the shows I've watched on Radio-Canada or TQS this seems like the most normal straightforward kids gameshow I've ever heard of out of Quebec....(albeit my knowledge is limited) but, it always strikes me that the shows I catch on tv in french like this are always sorta like those Japanese gameshows where it's like first you answer this question and then obviously the next part is to run an obstacle course with a bear chasing you or something.... if I thought this out more I could probably have a good gameshow to pitch hmmm.... anyways. I thought I'd share this with you as I thought it was great and it's a great way to use a little pop culture phrase from Quebec for people around our age... our prof said that people still say shit like "tiens, un morceau de robot!" ... I will definitely be working to incorporate this phrase into my vernacular ... you've been warned.

Oh here's a little synopsis of the show:
Satellipopettes (1975-1985)
Genre : Jeu-questionnaire (38), Jeunesse (345)
Langue : Francais
Pays d'origine : Canada
Synopsis

Claude Steben - Animateur

side note, holy shit neither the french or english wikipedia has an entry on this . . .

Oh yeah, my prof's favourite part, or one of them, is that when the one team wins you put the head on last and the robot sorta lights up and talks to you... he was like "so fucking cool"
