Riddle.
I totally forgot about Tom Flanagan's 2000 book regarding Canadian 'Aboriginal poilicy' until I was preparing for a seminar presentation on Cairns' Citizens Plus. In any case here's the riddle - so, Flanagan's book contains the following two phrases: (1) "First Nations" and (2) "Second Thoughts". One is followed by a question mark and one is followed by a period. Guess which is which. The answer may surprise you unless of course you are familiar with Flanagan but, even if you are, and like me sorta forgot about this book (or blocked out this book) you will at least utter a small groan.

I believe that book won some sort of (legitimate) award too.
Yes it did. It won some from some usual suspects. But it also won one from the Canadian Political Science Association (for the best book on Canadian politics of that year, I believe). Also the Donner prize which is for like public policy books in Canada I think...
One of my favourite parts about the jacket for the book is that here is it's 'glowing' (aka v. qualified) review: "Flanagan's arguments are, without question, the most thoughtful and comprehensive of the critiques of aboriginal policy that have been offered so far ... His views are controversial and, whether or not you agree with him, there is a clear need for his arguments to be publicly available and debated."
