"Every Oak Tree Started Out As a Couple of Nuts...

... who decided to stand their ground"

Seemed like an apt quote to begin with after spending a night at one of the seemingly ubiquitous Royal Oak's with one of my favourite people in the world - Ms. Kim Steele of Steele-Cocks fame (hehe).

It was a true pleasure to play some catch up with Kim who chose to hang out with me this evening over rubbing shoulders with Premiers and others who are in town for the Council of the Federation (who are hosting summit on Post-Secondary Education and skills training: Competing for Tomorrow). Of course, it could be because she didn't want to have to worry about being inappropriately drunk, or that she'd already had her fill of that earlier, or that she was hungry ... but, I'll chose to believe it's because I'm way cooler than Dalton. Hanging out with Ms. Steele this evening persuaded me into thinking that it may be a good idea to make a March excursion to Toronto after all, it's time for me to stop the hate of the city of my birth. Further, I've been promised an exciting trip to the CN Tower, how can a girl say no to that? Answer - she can't. She's promised to take some exciting pictures to memorex the moment - particularly this part of the tour - eek.

Favourite Steele quote of the evening: "I mean, it's just not a pub if you haven't got a gal dressed to the nines in one corner and fella in tear aways in the other corner who pissed himself passing out in the other. . . " {in reference to the royal oak we were at - by barrymore's - being more of a pub then the 'chi-chi' one further north down bank which she didn't feel was a 'real' pub}

Well I just wanted to try to keep this thing alive before it dies in its first week. I will work on posting something wittier later?

Quiz Question:
How many Royal Oaks are there in the Ottawa area?

(I think you'll be surprised to know the answer wasn't something like my guess would be... 'oh about 38')

For the answer.

Kim and I Southie's Canada day Stampede style breakfast party - booze in the a.m. is glorious!

Over and out,

A surprisingly sober gal.
